DIY STEM Project For Kids: Exploding Snowman

Love building snowmen but don’t want to head outside in the cold to make one? Check out this fun science project you can do inside!

In this video, Jessie shows you how to create an Exploding Snowman.

Watch as Jessie mixes arts, crafts, and science for this fun and creative experiment. She combines baking soda and vinegar to create a snowman that grows, and grows until it explodes!

You can use different materials and decorations to do this project year-round. Have some fun with it and see what happens. Just be ready for a big “POP” at the end!

Materials needed:

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Paper towels
  • 1 gallon resealable plastic bag
  • Food coloring
  • Black and orange markers

When you’re done with this project, we’d love to see it! Send us a picture at [email protected], upload to social media using #virtualbgc, or comment below!

Have fun!
